• ELISA Kit Principle: The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Interleukin 17C (IL17C). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Interleukin 17C (IL17C). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Interleukin 17C (IL17C) level in the sample or standard.

• Description of Target: Cytokine that plays a crucial role in innate immunity of the epithelium, including to intestinal bacterial pathogens, in an autocrine manner. Stimulates the production of antibacterial peptides and proinflammatory molecules for host defense by signaling through the NF-kappa-B and MAPK pathways. Acts synergically with IL22 in inducing the expression of antibacterial peptides, including S100A8, S100A9, REG3A and REG3G.
