Additional Information | Description: CD4 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on most thymocytes and the helper/inducer subpopulation of mature T lymphocytes of all mouse strains tested. CD4 has also been detected at low density on pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells, bone marrow myeloid precursors, and intrathymic lymphoid precursors. The CD4 antigen functions as a co-receptor, interacting with class II major histocompatability complex (MHC) molecules in the recognition of foreign antigens by T cells. In vivo and in vitro treatment with the GK1.5 monoclonal antibody effectively depletes CD4+ cells. GK1.5 also blocks helper T cell responses to MHC class II antigens, including cytolysis, proliferation, allogeneic B cell help, and release of lymphokines. |
Reconstitution and Storage | Store at 2-8C |
Immunogen | Mouse CTL clone V4 |
Concentration | 0.1 mg/mL |
Specificity | CD4 |
Characterization | To ensure lot- to- lot consistency, each batch of monoclonal antibody is tested by flow cytometry to conform to characteristics of astandard reference reagent. Representative data are included in this package insert. |
Warning | Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or faceprotection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physicianimmediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide- containing compounds in running water beforediscarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing. |
