Gene Symbol:
SNAPAP
Official Gene Full Name:
SNAP associated protein
NCBI Gene Id:
23557
Alias Symbols:
SNAP25BP, SNAPAP, SNARE-associated protein Snapin, Synaptosomal-associated protein 25-binding protein
Description of Target:
The protein encoded by this gene is a coiled-coil-forming protein that associates with the SNARE (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive fusion protein attachment protein receptor) complex of proteins and the BLOC-1 (biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles) complex. Biochemical studies have identified additional binding partners. As part of the SNARE complex, it is required for vesicle docking and fusion and regulates neurotransmitter release. The BLOC-1 complex is required for the biogenesis of specialized organelles such as melanosomes and platelet dense granules. Mutations in gene products that form the BLOC-1 complex have been identified in mouse strains that are models of Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

Kit Principle:
Aviva Systems Biology SNAPAP ELISA Kit (Human) (OKDD00535) is based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay methodology. An antibody for SNAPAP has been pre-coated onto a 96-wellplate (12 x 8 Well Strips). Standards or test samples are added to the wells, incubated and removed. A biotinylated detector antibody specific for SNAPAP is added, incubated and removed. Avidin-Peroxidase Conjugate is then added, incubated and unbound conjugate is washed away. An enzymatic reaction is produced through the addition of TMB substrate which is catalyzed by HRP generating a blue color product that changes yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration read by absorbance at 450 nm and is quantitatively proportional to the amount of sample SNAPAP captured in well.
