  Scientific Background: Shank proteins make up a family of scaffold proteins identified through their interaction with a variety of
  membrane and cytoplasmic proteins (3). Shank proteins at
  postsynaptic sites of excitatory synapses play roles in signal
  transmission into the postsynaptic neuron. Studies suggest
  that Shank2 is expressed in the neurons of the developing
  retina, and could play a role in the neuronal differentiation
  of the developing retina (4). Other recent studies suggest
  that the disruption of glutamate receptors at the Shank postsynaptic
  platform could contribute to the destruction of
  the postsynaptic density, which underlies the synaptic
  dysfunction and loss in Alzheimer's disease (5).
  Certificate of Analysis: 1 ug/mL was sufficient for detection of Shank2 in 10ug of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
• Reconstitution and Storage: All conjugated antibodies should be stored in light-protected vials or covered with a light protecting material (i.e. aluminum foil). Conjugated antibodies are stable for at least 12 months at 4C. If longer storage is desired (24 months), conjugates may be diluted with up to 50% glycerol and stored at -20C to -80C. Freezing and thawing conjugated antibodies will compromise enzyme activity as well as antibody binding.
