Description of Target Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein. Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. Albumin is a globular unglycosylated serum protein of molecular weight 65,000. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin which has an N-terminal peptide that is removed before the nascent protein is released from the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The product, proalbumin, is in turn cleaved in the Golgi vesicles to produce the secreted albumin. Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein. Surface Plasmon Resonance Kinetic Characterization of Polyclonal Antibody Affinity. Purified polyclonal antibodies were immobilized on a Protein A/G coated Carterra LSA sensor chip (PAGH200M) at concentrations of 5, and 50 ug/mL in duplicate. Antibodies on the surface were exposed to interaction with peptides sequentially via microfluidic controlled flow at 333nM peptide concentration for kinetic characterization of the binders for affinity and specificity, followed by curve fitting using the Kinetics software. Kd determinations for both concentrations were averaged and results and standard deviation are shown.
