Additional Information | Description: CD54, also known as intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), is a 90 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It exhibits a wide tissue distribution being expressed on both hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. ICAM-1 expression on leukocytes is low but is rapidly upregulated upon activation. Expression on endothelium and other non-hematopoietic cells is strongly upregulated by inflammatory mediators. The ligands of CD54 are CD11a/LFA-1alpha and CD11b/Mac-1alpha. Endothelial CD54 contributes to the extravasation of leukocytes from blood vessels particularly in areas of inflammation. CD54 on antigen-presenting cells (APC) contributes to antigen-specific T cell activation presumably by enhancing interactions between T cells and APC. |
Reconstitution and Storage | Store at 2-8C |
Immunogen | Rheumatoid synovial cells and human monocytes |
Concentration | 0.1 mg/mL |
Specificity | CD54 |
Characterization | To insure lot to lot consistency, each batch of product is tested by flow cytometry to conform to thecharacteristics of a standard reference reagent. |
Warning | Reagents contain sodium azide which is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, orclothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copiousamounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxichydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide- containing compounds in running water beforediscarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing. |
Dilution | Flow Cytometry: Purified (UNLB) antibody <= 1 ug/106 cells |
Application Info | Flow cytometry, Immunohistochemisty (frozen sections and paraffin sections), Immunoprecipitation, Blocking studies |
Other Applications Data | Since applications vary, you should determine the optimum workingdilution of the product that is appropriate for your specific need. |
Storage | - The purified antibody (UNLB) is supplied as 0.1 mg purified immunoglobulin in 1.0 mL 100 mM boratebuffered saline, pH 8.2. Store at 2- 8 C - Reagents are stable for the period shown on the label if stored as directed. |
