Additional InformationDescription: CD16, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, is a 50-65 kDa glycoprotein found as both a transmembrane and GPI-linked form. The transmembrane form of CD16 is expressed on NK cells, granulocytes, macrophages, and mast cells but not on eosinophils. The GPI-anchored type of CD16 is found only on neutrophils. CD16 is involved in NK activation and signal transduction.
Reconstitution and StorageStore at 2-8C
ImmunogenMononuclear cells from a prolymphocytic B-leukemia
Concentration0.1 mg/mL
SpecificityCD16
CharacterizationTo insure lot- to- lot consistency, each batch of product is tested by flow cytometry to conform with thecharacteristics of a standard reference reagent.
WarningReagents contain sodium azide which is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, orclothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copiousamounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxichydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide- containing compounds in running water beforediscarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.

Gene Full NameLow affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc region receptor III-A
Alias SymbolsCD16, FCG3, CD16A, FCGR3, IGFR3, IMD20, FCR-10, FCRIII, FCGRIII, FCRIIIA
NCBI Gene Id2214
Protein Namelow affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc region receptor III-A
Description of TargetThis gene encodes a receptor for the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G, and it is involved in the removal of antigen-antibody complexes from the circulation, as well as other other antibody-dependent responses. This gene (FCGR3A) is highly similar to another nearby gene (FCGR3B) located on chromosome 1. The receptor encoded by this gene is expressed on natural killer (NK) cells as an integral membrane glycoprotein anchored through a transmembrane peptide, whereas FCGR3B is expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) where the receptor is anchored through a phosphatidylinositol (PI) linkage. Mutations in this gene have been linked to susceptibility to recurrent viral infections, susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus, and alloimmune neonatal neutropenia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
