Additional Information | Subcellular Location: Cell membrane. Localized at the cell surface of melanoma cells and Secreted > extracellular space > extracellular matrix. Cell surface. Localized at the cell surface of melanoma cells. Tissue Specificity: Expressed in heart, brain, placenta, ovary and small intestine. Isoform Short is found in the ovary. Similarity: The conserved cysteine present in the cysteine-switch motif binds the catalytic zinc ion, thus inhibiting the enzyme. The dissociation of the cysteine from the zinc ion upon the activation-peptide release activates the enzyme.Belongs to the peptidase M10A family. |
Reconstitution and Storage | Store at -20C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt. |
Immunogen | A synthesized peptide derived from human MMP16 |
Purification | Affinity-chromatography |
Concentration | 1 mg/ml |
Specificity | MMP16 antibody detects endogenous levels of total MMP16 |

---|---|
Gene Full Name | matrix metallopeptidase 16 (membrane-inserted) |
Alias Symbols | MMP-X2, C8orf57, MT-MMP2, MT-MMP3, MT3-MMP |
NCBI Gene Id | 4325 |
Description of Target | MMP16 Endopeptidase that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, such as collagen type III and fibronectin. Activates progelatinase A. Involved in the matrix remodeling of blood vessels. Isoform short cleaves fibronectin and also collagen type III, but at lower rate. It has no effect on type I, II, IV and V collagen. |
