Additional Information | IL-33 is a member of the IL-1 family. It is involved in T helper type 2 response via the activation of its receptor ST2 (IL-1RL1) driving the production of Th2-associated cytokines. The stimulation of ST2 by IL-33 induces the NF-kappa B and MAPK pathways. The human IL-33 protein is expressed with a prodomain (aa 1-111) which is cleaved by caspase-1 to produce the 18kDa mature protein (112-270). |
Reconstitution and Storage | Reconstitute with 100 ul sterile distilled water. Further dilutions should be made with medium containing 5% fetal calf serum. Store at -20C |
Purity | >95% (SDS-PAGE) |

Description of Target | Cytokine that binds to and signals through the IL1RL1/ST2 receptor which in turn activates NF-kappa-B and MAPK signaling pathways in target cells. Involved in the maturation of Th2 cells inducing the secretion of T-helper type 2-associated cytokines. Also involved in activation of mast cells, basophils, eosinophils and natural killer cells. Acts as a chemoattractant for Th2 cells, and may function as an "alarmin", that amplifies immune responses during tissue injury (By similarity). |
