::Function: Transcriptional regulator (lacking a basic DNA binding domain) which negatively regulates the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors by forming heterodimers and inhibiting their DNA binding and transcriptional activity. Implicated in regulating a variety of cellular processes, including cellular growth, senescence, differentiation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and neoplastic transformation. Inhibits skeletal muscle and cardiac myocyte differentiation. Regulates the circadian clock by repressing the transcriptional activator activity of the CLOCK-ARNTL/BMAL1 heterodimer (By similarity).
Cellular Location: Cytoplasm. Nucleus.
Reconstitution and StorageMaintain refrigerated at 2-8C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
ImmunogenThis ID1 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 66-93 amino acids of human ID1.
PurificationThis antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.
Predicted Homology Based on Immunogen SequenceMouse
ConcentrationApproximately 0.5mg/ml. Actual concentration varies with each lot.
Intended UseID1 Antibody (Center) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.

Gene SymbolID1
Alias SymbolsID, bHLHb24
NCBI Gene Id3397
Protein NameDNA-binding protein inhibitor ID-1
Description of TargetThe protein encoded by this gene is a helix-loop-helix (HLH) protein that can form heterodimers with members of the basic HLH family of transcription factors. The encoded protein has no DNA binding activity and therefore can inhibit the DNA binding and transcriptional activation ability of basic HLH proteins with which it interacts. This protein may play a role in cell growth, senescence, and differentiation. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq].
