WarningReagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
Application InfoDot-and slot-immunoblotting Immunocytochemistry: 1:20-1:40 Immunohistochemistry (frozen sections only), 1:20-1:40 ELISA 1:1,000-1:4,000 Each laboratory should determine an optimum working titer for use in its particular application. Other applications have not been tested but use in such assays should not necessarily be excluded.
Gene SymbolCOL1A1, COL1A2
Alias SymbolsOI1, OI2, OI3, OI4, EDSC, CAFYD, EDSARTH1
NCBI Gene Id1277; 1278
Protein Namecollagen alpha-1(I) chain
Description of TargetThis gene encodes the pro-alpha1 chains of type I collagen whose triple helix comprises two alpha1 chains and one alpha2 chain. Type I is a fibril-forming collagen found in most connective tissues and is abundant in bone, cornea, dermis and tendon. Mutations in this gene are associated with osteogenesis imperfecta types I-IV, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type VIIA, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome Classical type, Caffey Disease and idiopathic osteoporosis. Reciprocal translocations between chromosomes 17 and 22, where this gene and the gene for platelet-derived growth factor beta are located, are associated with a particular type of skin tumor called dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, resulting from unregulated expression of the growth factor. Two transcripts, resulting from the use of alternate polyadenylation signals, have been identified for this gene.
Uniprot IDP02452, P08123
Protein Accession #NP_000079.2
Nucleotide Accession #NM_000088.3
