Additional Information | Precautions: ERV3 Antibody (C-Term) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |
:: | Function: Retroviral envelope proteins mediate receptor recognition and membrane fusion during early infection. Endogenous envelope proteins may have kept, lost or modified their original function during evolution. This endogenous envelope protein has lost its fusogenic properties. It can inhibit cell growth through decrease expression of cyclin B1 and increased expression of p21 in vitro TM anchors the envelope heterodimer to the viral membrane through one transmembrane domain. The other hydrophobic domain, called fusion peptide, mediates fusion of the viral membrane with the target cell membrane (By similarity) |
:: | Cellular Location: Virion. Tissue Location: Expressed at higher level in adrenal, sebaceous glands and placenta. Expressed at lower level in bone marrow, brain, breast, colon, heart, kidney, liver, lung, ovary, PBL, prostate, skin, spleen, testis, thymus, thyroid, trachea |
Reconstitution and Storage | Maintain refrigerated at 2-8C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Immunogen | This ERV3 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 445-474 amino acids from the C-terminal region of human ERV3. |
Purification | This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification. |
Predicted Homology Based on Immunogen Sequence | Human |
Concentration | Approximately 0.5mg/ml. Actual concentration varies with each lot. |
Application Info | WB: 1:1000 IHC-P: 1:10~50 |
Gene Symbol | ERV3-1 |
---|---|
Alias Symbols | ERV3, ERVR, envR, ERV-R, HERVR, HERV-R |
NCBI Gene Id | 2086 |
Protein Name | HERV-R_7q21.2 provirus ancestral Env polyprotein |
Description of Target | The human genome includes many retroelements including the human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs). ERV3, one of the most studied HERVs, is thought to have integrated 30 to 40 million years ago and is present in higher primates with the exception of gorillas. Taken together, the observation of genome conservation, the detection of transcript expression, and the presence of conserved ORFs is circumstantial evidence for a functional role. A functional role is also suggested by the observation that downregulation of ERV3 is reported in choriocarcinoma. [provided by RefSeq]. |
