Additional Information | Endotoxin Level: < 1.0 EU per 1 ug (determined by the LAL method) Isoelectric Point: 4.7 Subcellular Location: Secreted Phenomenon Explanation: The possible reasons that the actual band size differs from the predicted are as follows: 1. Splice Variants: Alternative splicing may create different sized proteins from the same gene. 2. Relative charge: The composition of amino acids may affect the charge of the protein. 3. Post-translational modification: Phosphorylation, glycosylation, methylation, etc. 4. Post-translation cleavage: Many proteins are synthesized as pro-proteins, and then cleaved to give the active form. 5. Polymerization of the target protein: Dimerization, multimerization, etc. |

Protein Name | Dickkopf-related protein 3 |
Description of Target | Antagonizes canonical Wnt signaling by inhibiting LRP5/6 interaction with Wnt and by forming a ternary complex with the transmembrane protein KREMEN that promotes internalization of LRP5/6. DKKs play an important role in vertebrate development, where they locally inhibit Wnt regulated processes such as antero-posterior axial patterning, limb development, somitogenesis and eye formation. In the adult, Dkks are implicated in bone formation and bone disease, cancer and Alzheimer disease (By similarity). |
