Additional InformationBackground: Endoglin encodes a homodimeric transmembrane protein which is a major glycoprotein of the vascular endothelium. This protein is a component of the transforming growth factor beta receptor complex and it binds to the beta1 and beta3 peptides with high affinity. Mutations in Endoglin cause hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, also known as Osler-Rendu-Weber syndrome 1, an autosomal dominant multisystemic vascular dysplasia. Endoglin may also be involved in preeclampsia and several types of cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for Endoglin.
::Function: negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter, chronological cell aging, angiogenesis, blood vessel development, patterning of blood vessels, vasculogenesis, response to hypoxia, morphogenesis of a branching structure, endothelial cell development, regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation, negative regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation, positive regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation, regulation of endothelial cell proliferation, negative regulation of endothelial cell proliferation, vasculature development, heart looping, epithelial cell development, heart morphogenesis, circulatory system process, detection of oxygen, regulation of systemic arterial blood pressure, positive regulation of systemic arterial blood pressure, regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent, regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter, cell motio.
