Reconstitution and Storage | Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized BSA in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O for 20 minutes at room temperature and at a concentration no greater than 200mg/ml. Storage: Lyophilized BSA although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18C. Upon reconstitution BSA should be stored at 4C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles. |

Protein Name | Serum albumin |
Description of Target | Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin which has an N-terminal peptide that is removed before the nascent protein is released from the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The product, proalbumin, is in turn cleaved in the Golgi vesicles to produce the secreted albumin. Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein. Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. |
