Description of Target | V-ATPase B1 is a protein encoded by the ATP6V1B1 gene which is approximately 56.8 kDa. V-ATPase B1 is localised to the endomembrane system. It is involved in insulin receptor recycling, innate immune system, metabolism and mTOR signalling pathway. It mediates acidification of eukaryotic intracellular organelles. V-ATPase dependent organelle acidification is necessary for such intracellular processes as protein sorting, zymogen activation, receptor-mediated endocytosis and synaptic vesicle proton gradient generation. V-ATPase B1 is expressed in the cochlea and endolymphatic sac. Mutations in the ATP6V1B1 gene may result in renal tubular acidosis with progressive nerve deafness. |
