• Description of Target: SOCS1 is a member of the STAT-induced STAT inhibitor (SSI), also known as suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS), family. SSI family members are cytokine-inducible negative regulators of cytokine signaling. SOCS1 functions downstream of cytokine receptors, and takes part in a negative feedback loop to attenuate cytokine signaling. Knockout studies in mice suggested the role of its gene as a modulator of IFN-gamma action, which is required for normal postnatal growth and survival.This gene encodes a member of the STAT-induced STAT inhibitor (SSI), also known as suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS), family. The expression of this gene can be induced by a subset of cytokines, including IL2, IL3 erythropoietin (EPO), CSF2/GM-CSF, and interferon (IFN)-gamma. Knockout studies in mice suggested the role of this gene as a modulator of IFN-gamma action, which is required for normal postnatal growth and survival.

What applications did you test the antibody in? Please include dilutions of the primary and secondary reagents.
Western Blotting. Primary antibody diluted 1/1000, secondary antibody diluted 1/5000

How did you store the antibody after re-suspension?
Antibody stored at -20

Please provide the protocol for your application procedure. Please be as detailed as possible.
Antibody was dilution was made up in PBS+Tween. Blots were left in primary antibody overnight on a rocker at 4 degrees. The following morning blots were washed 3 times for 10 minutes in PBS+Tween and then incubated for 1 hour with secondary antibody. Blots were washed again as described and developed.

How would you rate this antibody on a scale from 1-5? Why?

4 out of 5. Bands are clearer and at a size which is easier to detect as it does not clash with other proteins we may be measuring.
