- Description of Target:
- SOCS1 is a member of the STAT-induced STAT inhibitor (SSI), also known as suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS), family. SSI family members are cytokine-inducible negative regulators of cytokine signaling. SOCS1 functions downstream of cytokine receptors, and takes part in a negative feedback loop to attenuate cytokine signaling. Knockout studies in mice suggested the role of its gene as a modulator of IFN-gamma action, which is required for normal postnatal growth and survival.This gene encodes a member of the STAT-induced STAT inhibitor (SSI), also known as suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS), family. The expression of this gene can be induced by a subset of cytokines, including IL2, IL3 erythropoietin (EPO), CSF2/GM-CSF, and interferon (IFN)-gamma. Knockout studies in mice suggested the role of this gene as a modulator of IFN-gamma action, which is required for normal postnatal growth and survival.

- Add 100 μl of distilled water. Final anti-SOCS1 antibody concentration is 1 mg/ml in PBS buffer. For longer periods of storage, store at -20°C. Avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.

What applications did you test the antibody in? Please include dilutions of the primary and secondary reagents.
Western Blotting. Primary antibody diluted 1/1000, secondary antibody diluted 1/5000
How did you store the antibody after re-suspension?
Antibody stored at -20
Please provide the protocol for your application procedure. Please be as detailed as possible.
Antibody was dilution was made up in PBS+Tween. Blots were left in primary antibody overnight on a rocker at 4 degrees. The following morning blots were washed 3 times for 10 minutes in PBS+Tween and then incubated for 1 hour with secondary antibody. Blots were washed again as described and developed.
How would you rate this antibody on a scale from 1-5? Why?
4 out of 5. Bands are clearer and at a size which is easier to detect as it does not clash with other proteins we may be measuring.
