  Description: 
ACO1, also known as iron regulatory element binding protein 1 (IREB1), is a cytosolic protein which binds to iron-responsive elements (IREs). It plays a central role in cellular iron homeostasis. It was also shown to have aconitase activity, and hence grouped with the aconitase family of enzymes.Aconitase 1, also known as iron regulatory element binding protein 1 (IREB1), is a cytosolic protein which binds to iron-responsive elements (IREs). IREs are stem-loop structures found in the 5' UTR of ferritin mRNA, and in the 3' UTR of transferrin receptor mRNA. The iron-induced binding to the IRE results in repression of translation of ferritin mRNA, and inhibition of degradation of the otherwise rapidly degrading transferrin receptor mRNA. Thus, IREB1 plays a central role in cellular iron homeostasis. It was also shown to have aconitase activity, and hence grouped with the aconitase family of enzymes.

Polyclonal antibody produced in rabbits immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to a region of Human ACO1 with an internal ID of P22134 
Reconstitution and Storage: 
Antibody is lyophilized from PBS buffer with 2% sucrose. Add 50 µl of distilled water. Final antibody concentration is 1 mg/ml. For longer periods of storage, store at -20°C. Avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.

Quality Control: 
Rabbit Ig G is purified by peptide affinity chromatography method. 
Suggested starting concentrations are provided. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end-user. Differences in calculated versus apparent molecular weight may be due to post-translational modifications or protein hydrophobicity. For research use only not for diagnostic, human, or veterinary use.
Western Blot
Suggested dilution at 0.5µg/ml in 5% skim milk / PBS buffer, and HRP conjugated anti-Rabbit IgG should be diluted in 1: 50,000 - 100,000 as second antibody.
