  Description:
p53 is an important DNA binding protein that is frequently mutated in cancer. p53 has several functions including: tumor suppression, DNA repair, and recombination. Recombinant p53 was expressed in E. coli and purified from inclusion bodies. This protein is devoid of any post-translational modifications and suitable for use as a substrate. Activity: Active in DNA binding assays. Purity: ≥95% by SDS-PAGE.
Species:
Human
Gene Symbol:
TP53
Gene Aliases:
HGNC:11998, Cys51Stop, TRP53, p53
Storage:
Liquid. In 20 mM Tris, pH 8.0, 0.6 M NaCl, 50% glycerol. For long term storage aliquot and store at -20°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
Key Reference:
Matlashewski, G., et al., (1984) EMBO J. 3(13):3257-3262
Quality Control:
Active in DNA binding assay. Purity was found to be ≥95% by SDS-PAGE. Packaged in 1mg/ml.
Applications:
1: Refolded and purified from E.coli inclusion bodies, this protein is an excellent substrate for kinase assays; 2: Highly specific binding to wild-type p53 DNA binding site, this protein is an excellent reagent for development of DNA based binding assay
Suggested starting concentrations are provided. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end-user. Differences in calculated versus apparent molecular weight may be due to post-translational modifications or protein hydrophobicity. For research use only not for diagnostic, human, or veterinary use.
