  Description:
Also known a PECAM-1, CD31 is a type I membrane protein and cell adhesion molecule expressed on platelets and at endothelial cell intercellular junctions. CD31 is phosphorylated on Ser and Tyr residues upon cellular activation. Suitable for use in flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry on frozen sections, immunoblotting, and immunoprecipitation.

Antigen Specificity:
Mouse monoclonal antibody generated against stimulated human leukocytes. Specifically reacts with domain 1 of CD31.
Reconstitution and Storage:
Lyophilized. Add 100 µl of distilled water. Final antibody concentration is 1 mg/ml. For longer periods of storage, store at -20°C. Avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.
Key Reference:
Newman PJ, et al (1990) Science 247: 1219-22
Quality Control:
Mouse IgG1 is purified by protein G affinity chromatography.
Suggested starting concentrations are provided. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end-user. Differences in calculated versus apparent molecular weight may be due to post-translational modifications or protein hydrophobicity. For research use only not for diagnostic, human, or veterinary use.
Western Blot
dilution at 1µg/ml in 5% skim milk / PBS buffer, and HRP conjugated anti-mouse IgG should be diluted in 1: 50,000 - 100,000 as second antibody.
