ELISA Kit Principle | Aviva Systems Biology APOE ELISA Kit (Mouse) (OKCA00134) is based on a competitive enzyme immuno assay technique. The microtiter well-plate in this kit has been pre-coated with Mouse APOE and blocked. Standards or samples are added to the plate wells along with a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) conjugated antibody specific to APOE and incubated. APOE immobilized in the wells competes with the liquid phase APOE contained in the samples or standards for binding with the HRP-Conjugated APOE Antibody. Wells are washed removing unbound APOE, unbound HRP-Conjugated APOE Antibody or APOE/HRP-Conjugated APOE Antibody complex. HRP-Conjugated APOE Antibody bound to APOE immobilized in the well remains. An enzymatic reaction is produced through the addition of TMB substrate which is catalyzed by the immobilized HRP to generate a blue color product that changes yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is measured by reading the absorbance at 450 nm which is quantitatively proportional to the amount of HRP-Conjugated APOE Antibody captured in the well and inversely proportional to the amount of APOE which was contained in the sample or standard. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Gene Full Name | apolipoprotein E |
Alias Symbols | A, Apo-E, AI255918 |
NCBI Gene Id | 11816 |
Protein Name | Apolipoprotein E |
Description of Target | This gene encodes a member of the apolipoprotein A1/A4/E family of proteins. This protein is involved in the transport of lipoproteins in the blood. It binds to a specific liver and peripheral cell receptor, and is essential for the normal catabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoprotein constituents. Homozygous knockout mice for this gene accumulate high levels of cholesterol in the blood and develop atherosclerosis. Different alleles of this gene have been associated with either increased risk or a protective effect for Alzheimer's disease in human patients. This gene maps to chromosome 7 in a cluster with the related apolipoprotein C1, C2 and C4 genes. |
